Brock Priest
Summary
As a current computer science student at Weber State University, I am honing my skills in databases and web interface development. I have hands-on experience creating several applications utilizing Microsoft Access for the front end and Microsoft SQL (MSSQL) for the back end, showcasing my proficiency in utilizing these technologies. Listed in this portfolio is a list of projects that I have completed or worked on that I find important.
Elite Sales Databse
2016 - Current
Elite Sales LLC
Due to this being proprietary, this is not on GitHub.
This database is used to manage vehicles for a small used car dealership. The primary purpose was to keep track of not only the vehicle but also the expenses that the vehicle needed for resale. We fix cars out of many different rental fleets.
This is a Microsoft Access Application with data being hosted in Microsoft SQL Server. Many of the forms utilize MS VBA and dynamic pdf filling.
Duck Duck Jeep
Spring 2024
Project Weber State
GitHub Repo
Duck Duck Jeep is an Android application that I created in CS3270. The app consisted of a way to track a small duck that Jeep owners trade. I feel that I have learned more about programming in this specific course than any other course at Weber State. I really enjoyed making this application.
This was programmed mainly in Java with some groovy.
Home Assistant Instance
2022 - Current
Personal Project
This is not on GitHub, but there is documentation on the subject across the internet.
Home Assistant is a smart home automation software that runs on a Raspberry Pi. The main reason I use Home Assistant is the absence of the cloud. With no cloud, I control what is shared with the internet not them. This is used for more secure automation with APIs and such. I have an automation the reads an email from USPS to track packages and execute automations when something is coming.
Pi-Hole Instance
2022 - Current
Personal Project
GitHub Repo
I did not create this program, but have configured it to help protect data from being tracked.
Pi-Hole is a whole network ad blocker. I use this to primarily block web tracking. This is very useful if you do not want Google to track your data.
Call Center Form
2023 - Current
Project From Work
Proprietary Information
Currently, I work for a Call Center that really didn't have a way of collecting data from users over the phone. I created a form that is primarily made in HTML and JavaScript.
It then outputs a predefined text with the Name, Department, Issue, Comment, and Contact Information. This is used by the entire team of about 10 people on a day-to-day basis.
Learning Management System
Fall 2024 - CS3750
Project Weber State
GitHub Repo
The LMS application was created to allow students and instructors to keep track of assignments and tuition. The main lanuage used was C# in ASP.NET
The main things that I worked on were the Calendar feature and the API Card Processing using Stripe.
Vehicle Tracking System
Fall 2023 - CS3260 Python Django
Final Project
GitHub Repo
I used Python Django to implement a vehicle tracking system in this project. This is similar to the project I have in Microsoft Access. After graduation, I plan to upgrade the Microsoft system to use Python Django.
For this project I mainly utilized HTML, CSS, JS, and Python. I liked this platform because it isn't difficult to run. Some other things we used were open-source add-ons like PDFKit which allows you to create PDFs with server-side code, dynamically filling them.
This Website
2019
Project in High School
Home Page
The final thing that I would like to show off is this website. Over the years I have made changes to this site, but I have worked very hard on it. With the new knowledge, I have received from my Higher Education. I would like to create another website.
This site was programmed mainly in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. It was built with my base-level skills.
